John Muir National Historic Site is internationally celebrated as the home of naturalist John Muir (1838-1914).…More Famous for cofounding the Sierra Club and for helping to preserve and designate Yosemite, Sequoia, Grand Canyon and Mt. Rainier as national parks, Muir lived in the home and worked on the surrounding property with his wife and two daughters from 1890 until his death 1914.</p> <p>The gated entrance is situated on Alhambra Avenue and the sprawling property includes the Muir home, orchards, the Martinez Adobe and Mt. Wanda. It is open for self- and guided tours Wednesday through Sunday. </p>
