Coastal Cleanup Day A Huge Success
Over 200 volunteers come out to help clean up the shoreline and the creeks.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, over 200 people of all ages came to the Martinez Shoreline Regional Park, Franklin Canyon Road and other locales throughout Martinez to gather garbage and discarded junk from the shoreline and creeks.
The effort was assisted by East Bay Regional Park District rangers and Friends of the Alhambra Creek. Also on hand were volunteers from Martinez Jr. High, Environmental Studies Academy and other organizations.
After the cleanup, volunteers were treated to a BBQ lunch, and got to swap tales about the weird things they came across.
