Memorial Day - City Hall Closed, Observance Schedule

City, state and federal offices are closed on Monday, but there will be a ceremony to honor veterans.

City offices, along with schools, state and federal offices, will be closed on Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day. 

Two ceremonies honoring veterans will be held on Monday.

The first will begin at 9:00am at the Alhambra Cemetery on Carquinez Scenic Drive with a benediction, placing of the wreath, and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The observance will resume at the All Veterans Monument at Berrellesa St. and Alhambra Ave. at 10am. The program at the monument will include messages from Mayor Rob Schroder, Supervisor Federal Glover and Assemblywomen Susan Bonilla, and a letter from Congressman George Miller.

Veterans Day Message from Korean War veteran David McDonald will be featured. The National Anthem by will be sung by Cassidy Sumrall, followed by a remembrance by Heaven Lavy students from the New Leaf Collaborative, Martinez Unified School District.   

The ceremonies will conclude with the 21 gun salute by the American Legion Post 29 & VFW Post 1351 and Taps by Jennifer Oertel.

Paint the railroad trestle that crosses Alhambra. It's an eyesore.
