Councilwoman's Invitation To Martinez: "Let's Move On The New Tennis Courts"

Councilwoman Lara DeLaney wants people to see the newly refurbished courts at Nancy Boyd Park.

This Saturday, July 28, First Lady Michelle Obama is inviting Americans to participate in their own 'local Olympics,' by getting outside and finding ways to exercise. She is calling it Let's Move

In response, Martinez councilwoman Lara DeLaney is inviting the public to join her at the newly-refurbished Nancy Boyd Park tennis courts for some tennis.

"I was a USPTA certified professional several years back, and I could teach you (or your child) a tip or two. Let's Move on those new courts," DeLaney said.

The new courts at Nancy Boyd Park are part of a $240,500 project for resurfacing playing courts throughout the city, said city engineer Tim Tucker. Basketball and tennis courts at Nancy Boyd, Mountain View, Brittany Hills, Hidden Valley, Hidden Lakes, and Golden Hills Park have been, or soon will be, refurbished and ready for action.

The money comes from Measure H funds, a voter-approved bond measure that also paid for the remodeled library and reconstructed swimming pool at Rankin Park.
