Joe DiMaggio was born in Martinez in 1914, the same year John Muir died here. Shortly after his birth, the DiMaggios moved to San Francisco, where Joe was raised, but Martinez will forever be the home of his birth.
So it is with more than a little pride that we learn that Joltin' Joe will be one of four Baseball Hall of Fame players to be honored on a commemorative postage stamp.
According to Yahoo Sports, it's been six years since the USPS has honored baseball players with a stamp.
The USPS says it will release the stamps on July 20.
