Junior at Alhambra High School
Accomplishment: Extraordinary Young Artist
Keys to Awesomeness:
Hannah DeVries started drawing at the of age of two. Of course, many of us began to scribble about that time of our lives given the opportunity to hold a writing instrument. But for Hannah, holding a crayon, or a pen, or a brush tapped into a magical place for her and out came a true talent for which she was blessed.
In first grade, she won the Timberwolf yearbook cover contest and was also recognized by the local Martinez Gazette in an art contest as an elementary student. In 2007, as a seventh grader, her artwork for Kaiser Permanente's "Don't Buy the Lie" anti-smoking poster/slogan competition landed her in 1st place, and she was awarded a $5,000 savings bond. She loves to draw for friends and relatives and has already sold several paintings.
In the future Hannah hopes to use her creative talent in the field of computer graphic design, but truly she would be happy in any area that supports her passion for art. When asked about her talent she is a bit shy, humbly stating: "I do believe that I have been blessed with a gift that I don't dare take for granted."
