When kids return to school in the fall they’ll step onto spiffed-up campuses. Martinez Unified School District has launched an ambitious summer maintenance plan that will see $600,000 worth of improvements performed by the time the bell rings on Aug. 27.
Las Juntas Elementary will see some of the biggest changes. According to Principal Crystal Castaneda, “We are remodeling and reconfiguring our parking lot and entrance to the school, adding solar panels, updating our kitchen/cafeteria, adding wireless technology and updating communication systems and adding a new play structure! When your family returns to Las Juntas in August it will look different and amazing!”
