"Women Winning The Right to Vote in California

The first of five Thursday evening lectures celebrating the centennial of California women winning the right to vote in all elections.  Beverly Lane of Danville will outline the history of suffrage nationwide in the late 19th & early 20th centuries focussing on the victorious 1911 special election that included suffrage and the initiative and referendum.  Carmen Curtis will portray Alamo pioneer Mary Ann Jones who registered to vote in 1912 at age 87.
