Two Office Holders Reach Out To Martinez Voters This Week

A congressman and a state senator, both running for election in Martinez next year, are scheduled to make appearances here this week. Will you be attending?

Two state office holders who will be running for election in Martinez next year will visit the area this week.

State Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, will appear at a luncheon today (Tues Dec. 6) at the Campbell Theater, sponsored by the Horizon Leadership Series. Co-sponsors include the Martinez, and Pleasant Hill Chambers of Commerce and other business.Contact HLS@tvcFoundation.org for ticket information.

Sen. Wolk will also be a guest at a reception sponsored by the Contra Costa Council, the county's leading business support group, at Pleasant Hill Country Club. Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Concord, who's district currently includes Martinez, will also be a guest. Council members and invited guests will be attending. Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, on Saturday will attend two private "meet and greet" receptions, one of which is being hosted by Mayor Robert Schroder and his wife Suzanne.

Wolk and Thompson have declared their intentions to seek re-election. Their districts have been redrawn to extend their current districts south into Contra Costa County. If they win their elections next year, they will represent their new areas beginning with their new terms in 2013.

Neither has any announced opposition. Candidate nomination filing will begin Feb. 13, 2012.
