This year the city's budget picture is not bright -- an $800,000 deficit was remedied by cutting staff and staff hours, freezing positions and consolidating responsibilities.
But the pictures in the budget document itself are worth more than a thousand words. The City Council held a photo contest and asked residents to submit photographs of the city with which to illustrate the document. The winners were announced last Wednesday.
This week, Martinez Patch is proud to present the winning entries, beginning with three by Scott Jenny, who wound up on the cover of the budget and two sections inside.
