Siguenza Selected to Replace Gordon On MUSD Board

The attorney ran for school board unsuccessfully in 2010.

Deidre Siguenza has been selected to fill the seat vacated by Vicki Gordon on the Martinez Unified School District Board.

She said her reasons for seeking appointment to the board were "to strive for quality education and services for children of Martinez. I want to ensure that after completing school, our students are able to obtain jobs that will allow them to support themselves and their families and ultimately become contributing members of Martinez."

The board voted her in at the meeting Monday, Jan. 14. She was chosen from a list of seven people, since real estate appraiser Dena Betti withdrew her name from the list: public relations executive William Brakeville, financial specialist Wesley Brinkman, education executive Evelyn Centeno, retired teacher Kit Greerty, teacher Connie Miller, and network analyst Ron Skrehot.

Gordon won election in November to the Contra Costa Community College District Board of Directors.

Siguenza, an attorney who ran unsuccessfully for school board two years ago, will serve for the two years left in Gordon's term. Patch will have more information about the appointment and Siguenza in upcoming issues. Stay tuned.
