The city is wrapping up a $4.1 million upgrade to Rankin Park and Tavan Field with an opening slated for Memorial Weekend.
The rehab includes new landscaping, lighting, sidewalks, turf, irrigation, retaining walls, restrooms, play equipment, gazebo, a concession building, picnic tables and paving. Sod grass for the Tavan Field baseball diamond will likely be installed next week.
"We completely scraped the old park," City Engineer Tim Tucker told the Martinez Gazette on Friday.
"Once completed Rankin Park will be a signature park and picnic destination for the city and surrounding area.”
