Obama Starts Q&A on Reddit, Crashes Site

The president submitted an "AMA" ("Ask Me Anything") on the social bookmarking site at around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Hundreds of commenters responded within minutes. What do you think of the move?

The loyal fanbase of the social bookmarking site and cultural phenomenon Reddit got a surprise this afternoon when President Barack Obama popped up in the news feed.

Obama submitted an "AMA" on Reddit, which stands for "Ask Me Anything" and is one of the site's popular features. Usually posted by someone with an interesting story, career or claim to fame, "Ask Me Anything" allows users to post questions and hold a direct conversation with the submittor in the comment stream.

Within minutes, the response from users overwhelmed Reddit's servers and crashed the site. Obama verified his identity on the site by tweeting and posting a photo. The president said he would be taking questions for 30 minutes starting at 1:30 p.m., PST.

So, what are you going to ask the president?

What do you think of Obama's move? Is it simply a political student to woo younger voters? Or is it a natural part of campaigning in an online world?

The point I was making obviously is men should not be telling women what to do with their bodies. If you can't get that then you are really dense. There are no two sides to the issue if you if you don't want an abortion don't have one but don't tell me as a women what to do it is none of your business and if you arent a women then you really have no right at all ti even discuss it either way. So Richard, Chris, Redrock find something else to discuss this is NOT your issue

Toni: Got it! It’s entirely your issue, but you might consider a substitute, the age old alternative to an abortion which would be the method mentioned by Nancy Reagan, “Just Say No!” It’s effective, it’s inexpensive and above all, it doesn’t involve an evil man, and above all, it gives you entire control over your valuable reproductive rights.

@Dick Johnson.. Try selling that point to two teens in East L.A. or South Bronx. Abortion is and always will be a socio-economic problem. For the rich 1%’s who abhor sex, they will always have the ability to send their daughters to Sweden for a therapeutic abortion after the private, Latino tennis instructor teaches her the meaning of LOV. But for Bewanaa and LaTosha in Oakland- where are they going to go..? Can’t hop a private plane for Sweden that’s for sure. The rich can afford and get away with skirting the law- the poor are again left to sort matters the old fashioned way. You guys and your Christian hypocritical values make me sick!

Richard it is entirely a women's issue your right thanks for finally getting it. If men could get pregnant then abortion would be a sacrament. They would never let women tell then what they can do with their bodies.

Well Red, here we go again. Anything I ever thought I really needed, things I thought that required or things I had to have Always had a price tag. But, when Bewanaa or LaTosha in Oakland need something, why am I required to pay their bill? If someone desires a medical procedure, any procedure including a face lift, a tummy tuck or an abortion, they should go for it. I have no problem with that, however, they should just write a check and pay for it themselves. Please, don’t give me their invoice or their bill for the services they think they need. An individual has the right to make decisions in their life and they should both enjoy the benefit or pay for the consequences. Works for me!
