Martinez Meeting on Fire Station Closure Plan Is Jan. 10

ConFire holds meetings to discuss procedures in belt-tightening move to shutter four central county stations.

A meeting to discuss the plan to close a Martinez fire station (Fire Station 12) is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Martinez Junior High, 1600 Court St.

The closures of this and two other stations are planned to take effect Tuesday, Jan. 15.

ConFire Chief Daryl Louder is due at the meeting as well as county supervisors and city representatives.

On Dec. 11, after nearly six hours of testimony, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed to close four stations under the auspices of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, including ones in Martinez and Lafayette. Operations at a fire station in Clayton will be reduced to six hours a day.

"The closures are necessary to close a budget deficit due to reduced revenues from declining property taxes, coupled with increasing costs to the Fire District for personnel and general operations," according to a notice on the ConFire news blog.

We STILL have not heard why ALL firestations are not participating in PARTIAL CLOSURES (brown outs) instead of affecting THIS community 100% by 100% closure. Board Sups ASKED for that info in the FIRST MEETING & the SECOND MTG. Time to reduce FIRE MANAGEMNT because they are avoiding dealing with this is a REASONABLE way. Instead they are willing to gamble with MARTINEZ lives.Time to REQUIRE the Board of Sups to NOT close ANY stations without a thorough vetting of BROWN OUTS!

Where Are You Mayor,And City Counsel ? (And What About Anamarie You Stood Up at The ONLY city counsel Meeting and Said How Much You Supported The Fire Dept.
