Martinez Election Guide

The candidates, incumbents and issues that will be affecting Martinez and Contra Costa County.

As we look ahead to November’s elections, Martinez Patch is committed to bringing you the information you need about every race in town.

In five months Martinez voters will cast ballots for two city councilmembers, the city clerk and the city treasurer. Here is the timeline for filing as a candidate:

The nomination period will begin at 8:30 am on Monday, July 16, 2012 and end at 5:00 pm on Friday, August 10, 2012. However, if one of the incumbent officeholders does not file by the August 10 deadline, the nomination period for that vacancy will be extended (for any qualified person, other than the incumbent) until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2012.

Nomination papers must be obtained from the City Clerk’s office during the nomination period. Candidates must be registered voters of Martinez at the time the Nomination paper is issued.

Candidates are invited to contact the City Clerk’s office at 925-372-3512 for election details or by email mcabral@cityofmartinez.org.
