Laurel Knolls Comes Back For Review

Martinez residents will have a chance to see the changes made to the proposed development during tonight's City Council meeting.

Project managers for the Laurel Knolls development are scheduled to reveal design changes during tonight's Martinez City Council meeting, in response to concerns from residents.

Tonight's 7 p.m. meeting continues a public hearing on June 5, when residents listed several concerns about the 76-home development at 370 Muir Station Road. The developer has reportedly made significant changes to its original plan, including:

  • Adding a 5-foot sidewalk outside the development from Muir Station Road to Alhambra Way.
  • Removing planned townhomes from along the hillside near the East Bay Park Trail and along the eastern and western property boundaries.

Concerns about traffic as a result of the development arose during a July 8 hearing. City officials agreed the subject could warrant further study to see if additional traffic safety improvements are needed.
