Developer's Changes Don't Address Key Issues According To Neighbors

Martinez City Council approves new plans for the Muir Station Road development, but it's not a done deal yet.

The Martinez City Council seemed impressed by the changes the developer made to a proposed 76-home project at Laurel Knolls -- impressed enough to approve the preliminary plan.

The plans for the 370 Muir Station Road development will come back before the City Council at its August 7 meeting for another evaluation.

Seeno, in response to concerns from the community, altered the design of the 6.8-acre project, added a sidewalk Muir Station Road to Alhambra Way, proposed a community garden, and proposed a connector trail to surrounding open space.

Townhomes originally located along the property line facing neighbors and a trail have been moved and the homes have been reoriented so they are now perpendicular to the property line.

The changes don't seem to address the key issues neighbors have with the development, including traffic, open space preservation and noise.

Traffic remains a very serious concern for neighbors. Jolene Martin said the traffic in the area would be "devastating" as a result of the project design.

Another neighbor requested during the City Council meeting that the developer reduce the project density and preserve a 2-acre area as open space.
