Contra Costa Registrar Estimates 80 Percent Turnout

Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters Steve Weir said Tuesday afternoon that he expected a turnout of around 80 percent, down from 2008's 87 percent.

Contra Costa County Registrar of Voters Steve Weir said Tuesday that things were going relatively smoothly throughout the county. There were some minor glitches, as there always are for something as massive as a presidential election, but overall he said things were going well.

The turnout in Contra Costa is expected to be lower for this presidential election than it was in 2008, when 87 percent of registered voters went to the polls. This time out, Weir said it may get as high as 80 percent.

Did you vote today? Were the polls crowded where you cast your vote?
