After the Conventions: Will Obama or Romney Win?

Now that the Democratic and Republican delegates have officially chosen their nominees, Patch wants to know: Who are you betting on?

After President Barack Obama's acceptance speech in Charlotte Thursday night, Republicans and Democrats have formally chosen their nominees for the 2012 presidential election. Let the real race begin — or continue on and on.

A lot can change between now and Nov. 6: Gaffes, scandals or even major international news events could shift the dynamics of the campaign.

The latest Gallup Polls show registered voters preferring Obama to Mitt Romney by just one percentage point, 47 percent to 46 percent. A USA Today/Gallup poll taken just before the party conventions found American voters think Obama is more likeable, but trust Romney more to handle the economy.

Feel like putting some real money on the election? Before Obama's big speech Thursday night, Ladbrokes reckoned the odds of an Obama victory at 4-11 and a Romney win at 2-1. The odds of a tie in the Electoral College are 100-1, according to the venerable betting house. Those, by the way, are the same chances that the London bookmakers are giving a Ron Paul presidential victory in 2016.

Patch wants to know: Regardless of who you support for President, who do you think will actually claim victory in November?

Your predictions on the affordable health care act are wrong they did not come true in Massachusetts when Romney care was enacted. I read Ayn Rand in he 70s and don't think objectivism has the seminal qualities that you obviously do. It is funny that Ayn Rand is most often cited by conservatives when Ms Rand was a pro choice, free sex, atheist all qualities that are anathema to most conservatives.

I disagree with you on health care in small businesses. They are already hiring workers at less than 32 hours a week, so that they don't have to have insurance. Everyone needs to have decent health care. You are right that Mass. system works that Romney put in. The problem is that he won't or can't toot his own horn on that one because of the Republicans and Tea Party who hate Obama so much that they won't recognize it as a good system. I am afraid bloggers that we are in for four more rough years if Romney wins. This is my opinion and does not require a debate about it.

Loudound David, Why I think the sky isn't blue (no hostility or insults, just logic) 1. Ketchup is red. 2. Elvis wrote "Blue Suede Shoes" BEFORE he died. 3. There are more red states than blue ones. 4. Blue is actually the name of a character on some kid's tv show. 5. My friend Skye's favorite color is green. I have many other reasons, but those are the main ones.
