Update On Missing Martinez Teen

Police continue to seek Ryan Menjivar as his brother says he was seen downtown on the day he disappeared.

Alhambra High senior Ryan Menjivar, who was first reported missing on Feb. 26, is the subject is a major search by Martinez police and members of his family and community. Posters are plastered around Martinez and Pleasant Hill, and there are many pleas from his friends and family on his Facebook page for him to return home, or at least call.

The last words he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday, Feb. 26, was "so done with everything." Since then, no one has heard or seen him.

"All indication is that this is a voluntary missing adult," said Captain Eric Ghisletta of the Martinez police. "We continue to follow up on leads that come in."

However, Mark Menjivar, Ryan's brother, said that last Facebook post left by Ryan was tagged in Vine Hill around 4 a.m.

"That means he either had his phone or he was posting from a computer in Vine Hill," Mark Menjivar said. "This we can confirm."

There was also a possible sighting of Ryan at the downtown Starbucks between 11 a.m. and noon on Feb. 26, the day he disappeared. The barrista said he only ordered water, which Mark Menjivar said sense because he had no cash or debit card with him.

Amtrak employees said they may have seen a passenger around this same time matching Ryan's description, though Mark Menjivar said this particular lead is "a very loose sighting."

There is now a Facebook page, a Twitter page (@Helpfindryan), and a web site dedicated to finding Ryan.
