Two DUI Arrests in Martinez Checkpoint

Martinez police stopped cars on Alhambra Avenue from Friday night into Saturday morning.

Martinez police arrested three drivers and cited 17 others at a sobriety checkpoint conducted Friday evening on Alhambra Avenue.

The checkpoint operated on the 3700 block of Alhambra from 7 p.m. to 11:30 a.m., according to Lt. Aaron Roth. Police screened 556 vehicles during those hours and arrested two people on drunk driving charges and one driver on other criminal charges, Roth said.

In addition, eight drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license or on a suspended or revoked license, and nine others were cited for other violations. The checkpoint was paid for by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
