A suspect wearing a ski mask took cash at knifepoint from a female employee of a fast food restaurant late Thursday night, American Canyon police said.

There were no customers in the Sonic Drive-In restaurant at 6055 Main St. and another employee was in a restroom when the robbery occurred around 11:30 p.m., police Chief Tracey Stuart said.

The male suspect was wearing a black ski mask and had a knife with an 8-inch blade, Stuart said.

The employee gave the robber money from the cash register and the suspect ran southwest toward state Highway 29, Stuart said.

He was described as a black male in a red hooded sweatshirt who is about 5 feet 2 inches and weighs 125 pounds.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Napa County sheriff's investigators at (707) 253-4591.
