A possible drug debt was apparently behind a bizarre episode on Wawona Circle Friday, when 47-year-old Brian Hope fired several rounds into an empty pickup truck, police say.
Residents on nearby Sentinel Drive flooded 9-1-1 with calls about shots fired around 12:40 p.m. Police responded to a home on the 100 block of Wawona Court, where a resident told them he had fired several rounds from his rifle into someone else's pickup truck.
Police said that the owner of the truck came to the Wawona Circle home to collect a drug debt. As he approached the house, Hope fired several rounds at the unoccupied truck. The truck owner ran back to his vehicle and drove away. No one was shot at, and no one was harmed, police say.
Hope was arrested for shooting at an unoccupied vehicle.
Drug dealer show up in Martinez and left after he learned he was not welcome. Martinez pO Lice arrest person who removed a drug dealer from our city because shooting at an un occupied vehicle endangers all residents. Vehicle not held as evidence thus no evidence of a crime. Almost like making a claim you killed somebody but there is no body. Betcha the DA is going to love this episode. No felony except the felony of being stupid and telling the truth by Mr. Hope. When the truck gets on the stand it will be interesting as the owner of the truck will NEVER agree to testify. No victim... no complaint but an admission? What a waste of Police Resources not to mention a few thousand dollars of additional tax payer money. The headline should have been Drug Dealer set free Resident Arrested. with the report starting off with: Citizens are advised to not interfere with drug dealers attempts at bill collections. Call the Martinez Police and complain that you bought some drugs and the dealer wants payment. Martinez Police will inform each citizen it is a civil matter and they do not respond to such matters unless there is violence. Citizens are thus advised to shoot the dealers vehicle "safely" and they will come by and arrest the resident and then advise the drug dealer it is a matter for small claims or a court of proper jurisdiction. R we having fun yet?
