Contra Costa County Sheriff's investigators said the killing happened a camp along the Interstate 680 overpass on Concord Avenue near the Concord/Pleasant Hill border.

Authorities said they have arrested 38-year-old James Riley for the killing.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Jerald Nagle, said Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee.

Riley and Nagle had reportedly gotten into a fight. Lee said both men are transients.

Riley was booked at County Jail in Martinez on homicide charges. He's being held on $1 million bail.

p.s. maybe it was the wrong place for me to bring up creek restoration... we're talking about a life here. and a situation most of us don't have to deal with. Sorry if I was out of line.

Hey April, why didn't you open your home to all your homeless friends since you have such concern for them. Your buddy sounds like a lovely guy, by the way, beating his girlfriend during the years, in between jail stints. If he was living at your house he wouldn't throw trash and he might still be alive. Think about it!!! It's all your fault. You knew about his problems and you did nothing.

A small percent of the trash in creeks is from homeless. Most of it comes from people with homes.

Hey April, since you want to focus on the subject of trash. I was at Target in Emeryville recently. There was a homeless man furiously going through the trash cans picking stuff out and eating it as he went. Many people were watching him. I had a couple of protein bars in my purse so I handed them to him with some money. I was the only one in the hordes of people shopping on a Saturday that did anything thing for him. Got any more trash comments, April?
