The search for 18-year-old Montrell Harrell is picking up urgency since the teen, described as "at-risk," has been missing from Mt. Diablo State Park for more than 24 hours Monday.

Harrell was last seen at Mt. Diablo State Park during a camping trip. He disappeared after taking a phone call and was reportedly emotionally upset at the time. Harrell is reportedly mentally disabled and had not taken his medication.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's office joined the State Park Ranger's office Sunday night in an intensive search for the teen. Harrell is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound black man. He was last seen wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

A candlelight vigil for Harrell will be held in Martinez at 8 p.m. Monday at Alhambra High School, where he is a student

Witnesses who were with Harrell during the camping trip said he seemed happy and enthusiastic until he received a phone call Saturday morning regarding his biological mother. He reportedly said he was worried she was going to kill herself.

Harrell was last seen around 7:30 a.m. Sunday. A report was made to the rangers station, but a search of the area proved fruitless.
