POLICE LOG: Protect Yourself From Mail Theft

Police activity for Friday, July 26, 2013 as reported by the Martinez Police Department.

Here's a reminder to be wary of mail and identity theft:

An Alhambra Avenue resident reported to Martinez Police the theft of a FedEx package Saturday. The package was valued at $250.

Postal officials offer these suggestions to protect your mail:

  •  When your mail is delivered try and take your mail inside as soon as possible.
  • Install locking mail boxes if possible.
  • Report any suspicious persons loitering around or subjects who are suspiciously unfamiliar to you to the area.
  • Get good descriptions of suspicious and loitering persons.
  • Consider “going green”, and not having documents and personal information sent to your mailbox.
