Police Log: Missing Jewelry, Stolen Packages, Assault at Walmart

Here's a sampling of the items that kept Martinez police busy the past few days

Here are some of the items reported from the Martinez police logs between Dec. 21 and Dec. 25.

Friday, Dec. 21

9:38 a.m.: A man told police he had arrived at his deceased brother's home on Brackman Lane and found the front door open. He said it appears the house had been ransacked.

3:04 p.m: A woman reported $10,000 worth of jewelry was missing from her home on Lance Court. She said the items taken were two diamond rings and pearl earrings.

5:32 p.m.: A woman reported a package may have been stolen from her front porch on Willow Lake Drive. She said a neighbor saw a woman running from her house, carrying a package. The woman jumped into a waiting car, which sped off.

Saturday, Dec. 22

12:17 p.m.: A man reported a package had apparently been taken from the front of his home on Marie Avenue. No one saw anything, but tracking records showed the package had been delivered.

11:28 p.m.: A transient was arrested at the Safeway store on Alhambra Avenue after employees said he was yelling and cursing at employees.

Sunday, Dec. 23

3:05 p.m.: A neighbor reported several trucks were being used to try to free another truck stuck in some mud at Hidden Valley Park. The trucks were tearing up the grass. The drivers were given verbal warnings.

4:47 p.m.: A suspect was arrested on petty theft charges at the Walmart store on Arnold Drive. No other information was available.

Monday, Dec. 24

11:48 a.m.: A homeowner reported someone entered his home on Breckenridge Place through a side garage door overnight and stole a backpack with hunting gear inside. No weapons or ammunition were in the pack.

2:48 p.m.: A security guard at Walmart on Arnold Drive reported he was trying to arrest a woman with stolen merchandise when she jumped into a car and tried to run him over. The guard was able to get the merchandise back. The suspect and a passenger sped off in a blue Ford Explorer.

6:40 p.m.: A homeowner on Trailview Circle told police a wrapped gift was left on his porch. The anonymous package contained a book on how to make a bomb.

Tuesday, Dec. 25

6:40 a.m.: A man was arrested on this Christmas morning after neighbors reported seeing him walking on the roof of a home on Alhambra Avenue. Police arrived and took the man, who was wearing dark clothing, into custody.
