Police Log: Lots Of Cars Keyed, Fake Money, Deer Assaults

The following information was taken from the Jan. 24 through Jan. 28 Daily Police Log, and rewritten by Martinez Patch.

January 24

License to smash – Someone ran over the metal cages that house the city’s water unit pieces at Martinez Jr. High, but the license plate was left at the scene.

Fake money – An employee of Tower Market on Howe Road reported that a man passed a counterfeit $10 bill to him.

Something borrowed – A man reported that a car he was borrowing was stolen on Marina Vista, in front of Armando’s.

Theft of power tools – A man reportedly ran out of Home Depot on Arnold Drive with two power tool kits, valued at $400. He left behind a tent he had just purchased at Walmart.

Burglary – A home was broken into at Rock Pass Place via a broken back door.

Jack in the bank – A man described as having grey hair and beard in a sweatshirt and sweat pants was reportedly standing near the parking lot of Bank Of America on Main Street and jumping out at older females. He was gone when police arrived.

Assault by deer – A man reported that a deer ran into his car on the access road at Ferry Point Park, on North Court Street.

Cars keyed – A man in the Mission Pines Apartments reported that over the past eight months, he has had three cars keyed.

Rifle found – A man reported finding an assault rifle at Berrellesa Street and Robinson Street.

January 25

A gang of deer – A man said he swerved into another car on Macalvey Drive because there were many deer in the road. There were no injuries.

Bike vs. car – A car hit a cyclist at the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Highway 4. An ambulance was called.

Odiferous – A store manager at Nob Hill on Center Avenue reported three men hanging out and using the bathroom, and asked that they be moved along due to one of the men “smelling really bad.” They were gone when police arrived.

Mail hunt – A woman on Berrellesa Street reported chasing off another woman who was looking through mailboxes, looking at the mail and putting it back. She said she was looking for someone named Manuel. She was gone when police arrived.

January 26

Not so wise – A man was reported standing in front of a home on Estudillo Street hooting like an owl for about 15 minutes.

Tools of the trade – A backpack was found behind a residence on Sunnybrae Drive containing burglary tools like bolt cutters, gloves, tape and other items.

January 27

Theft of tips – A man came into the Alhambra Donuts and Deli on Alhambra Avenue and reportedly took the tip jar on the counter.

Theft from car – A car was broken into on Fountainhead Court and tools worth $400 were taken.

Street boulder – A boulder reportedly rolled into the street at Court Street and Marina Vista. It was rolled to the side of the street by a driver.

January 28

Drunk driving arrest – A man was arrested at Alhambra Avenue and Kim Court for driving under the influence.

Weapons arrest – A man was arrested outside of Walmart on Arnold Drive on weapons charges.

Stolen property arrest – A man was arrested at the Senior Center on Green Street and charged with possession of stolen property.

Stolen planter – A woman on Roanoke Drive reported the theft of a planter and a plant off her porch.

Crime with a peel – A woman reported that men were on the corner of Hidden Lakes Drive and Center Avenue selling oranges.

More cars keyed – Five cars were reported keyed on Castro Street, in front of Luigi’s 99 Cent Store.

No stake in the future – A resident of Harbor View Drive reported that some kids pulled up surveying stakes on the property that cost $1500, and they put a couch on the property as well.

Weapons arrest – A man was arrested at the corner of Pacheco Boulevard and Howe Road for weapons violations.

Burglary arrest – Two men were arrested at Ophir Court and Glacier Drive after trying to get into a truck.

January 29

Theft from vehicle – A car was broken into on Glacier Drive and a stereo was taken.
