Police Log — Assaults, Intoxication and Kids Misbehaving

The following arrest information was supplied by the Martinez Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

May 21

Summer must be coming — There were a number of complaints regarding teens:

  • Highland Park neighbors reported a number of juveniles being loud in the park and a similar report came in for Morello Avenue Park a few minutes later
  • A parent reported that she got word her 16-year-old daughter was sleeping off alcohol she drank at a party but that the host would not answer the door.
  • A group of juveniles were reported smoking, drinking and causing a disturbance at the Lotus Apartments on Alhambra Avenue.

Cool obstacle — A small refrigerator was reported blocking the road on Talbart Street.

Arrested on charge of public drunkenness twice in one day — Police arrested a man at the Marina Market on Escobar Street on suspicion of public drunkenness after a report that he was yelling obscenities and going in and out of the store. He was arrested again a few hours later at Walgreen’s on Alhambra Avenue on the same charge.

Buying cigarettes for minors — A homeless man with one leg was said to be buying cigarettes for kids after school at Tony’s Deli on Alhambra Avenue.

Shot in the windshield — A man driving south on Reliez Valley Road near Blue Ridge Drive reported hearing a loud pop and then something hit his windshield.

Camping in the marina parking lot — An RV owner was setting up chairs outside his RV with the generator running, disturbing people in the park.

May 22

Smash 'n' grab — A car window was broken and a GPS system was stolen in the Lucky’s parking lot on Arnold Drive.

Gun chase — A man on J Street was chasing another man with a gun – an arrest was made.

Smash 'n' grab, Part 2 — A car parked in the Valley Ridge Apartments on Roanoke Drive was broken into, and a purse and clothing were taken.

Serious littering — Two women were seen throwing a mattress into the creek near Soto and Estudillo streets.

More teen trouble — A group of juveniles was loitering and drinking at Golden Hills Park on Sterling Drive.

May 23

Teen fight — A group of 100 students were watching three or four students pushing and shoving each other at Susana Street Park on Estudillo Street.

Scary proposition — A teenager walking home from Alhambra High School was on Castro Street when she reported that a 30-year-old man came out of a house and asked her name and where she was going, and invited her into his home. She ran to a friend’s house on Pine Street.

May 24

Hit and run — An older male in a white Dodge Caravan hit three parked cars in a parking lot on Roanoke Drive.

Stolen car — A car was stolen overnight from Pine Street.

Stolen mail — A witness said an older man with gray hair and a walker stole some mail out of the mailbox at Manna Thai on Ferry Street. 

Exposure — A woman wearing a hospital gown open at the back was standing in front of the Goody Hut on Alhambra Avenue asking people to buy alcohol for her.

Stolen truck — A truck was stolen from Gregg Drilling and Testing on Howe Road.

Smash 'n' grab, Part 3 — A car was broken into at the Valley Ridge Apartments on Roanoke Drive, and a navigation system, CDs and phone charger were taken.

Grass fire — A grass fire was reported at Granger’s Wharf.

Grand theft – Metal cabinets and floor jacks were stolen from a home on Castro Street.

May 25

Drunk in public arrest — Police arrested a man on a charge of public drunkenness at F Street and Alhambra Avenue.

Burglary — Two men were seen leaving a home on Rainbow Drive carrying a bag.

Stolen wallet — A man reported that his wallet was stolen while he was at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices on Muir Road.

Assault — A man walking with his wife at Hidden Lakes Park reported that three men in a black Chevy Tahoe threw a bottle at him, then turned around and yelled at the couple while they were walking. The man was uninjured.

Door-to-door panhandling — A woman was reported on Alhambra Avenue going door to door, asking for money.

Assault – Two men in a blue Chevy Suburban threw a plastic bag of water at a woman walking near Hidden Lakes Park. She got a photo of the vehicle and the license number.

May 26

Yet another smash 'n' grab – A car on Roanoke Drive was broken into and a GPS system, CDs, a phone charger, appointment book, clothes and toys were stolen. 

Sexual assault – A woman reported that she was molested by two juveniles whose faces were covered by masks at Hidden Lakes Park.

May 27

Dangerous drinking – A 15-year-old was hospitalized after drinking too much at a party.

Stolen car – A car was stolen from Vista Oaks Drive. 

Robbery — A man who stole beer from the Forest Hills Safeway hit a store clerk who was chasing him with his vehicle. The clerk was unharmed, and got a photo of the car.

Breaking the school – Two teens were playing on the roof of Morello Park Elementary School and reportedly tore off a piece of the siding.

Stealing the stars – A movie poster was reported stolen from the lobby of the Contra Costa Cinemas on Center Avenue.
