Police Arrest Couple After High Speed Chase On Freeway

47-year-old Christopher Bovee was arrested on suspicion on possession of material to manufacture methamphetamine.

A 47-year-old Martinez man and a 50-year-old woman were arrested on drug charges yesterday after a high speed chase through the city and I-680 that involved Martinez police and the CHP.

According to police, an officer tried to pull Christopher Bovee of Martinez over for a traffic violation around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Pacheco Boulevard and Arthur Road. When Bovee refused to stop, a pursuit took place on southbound I-680 that involved Martinez police and the CHP. Bovee was eventually stopped on the Gregory Lane offramp in Pleasant Hill.

Bovee was found to be under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance. When police searched his car, they found “numerous materials” used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. The county hazardous materials team was called and took possession of material.

Bovee was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for manufacturing a controlled substance,  precursors used in the manufacturing of a controlled substance, possession and being under the influence of a controlled substance and evading a police officer.

A 50-year-old passenger, Tamra Phillips of Concord, was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and also booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
