MPD Reports: Dog Tangles With Raccoon
A raccoon under a deck; kids in go karts—and more from Martinez Police reports.

One Martinez dog discovered that sometimes it’s a bad idea to investigate strange sounds coming from under the deck. You could find yourself eye-to-masked-eye with a cranky raccoon. To really add insult to injury, your owner may have to call the police to rescue you. One pooch on Escobar Street learned those tough lessons around 10:00 Monday night. The good news—the pup is fine.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday an upset resident called police to report that her neighbor on Brown Street had pulled her cane out of her hands, almost causing the woman to fall down. Police assisted the victim.

A caller told a 911 operator that some kids in go karts were driving around on the lower baseball field at Martinez Junior High. When an officer arrived at around 8:30 p.m., the kids were gone.
And 911 received a total of five hang-up calls Monday—four from Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and one from a 7-11 store.
