Martinez Woman Arrested for Arson After Sunday Fire

The 49-year-old woman admitted to setting a Pine Court house ablaze Sunday, causing $35,000 of damage.

From the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District:

Fire crews from Martinez and Concord responded to a fire in a single story home at 730 Pine Court in Martinez at 11:14am on Sunday.

The first arriving engine company reported smoke from the eaves of the home with all occupants out of the structure. Upon further investigation crews found a fire located in one of the rooms of the home. Crews attacked and extinguished the fire, containing the fire to the room of origin.

The fire appeared suspicious and a fire investigator was called to the scene. The fire investigator determined the fire to be arson and a 49-year-old female was arrested for arson to a structure after admitting to starting the fire after being questioned by our fire investigator.

There were no injuries to residents or responders. The structure sustained approximately $35,000 in damage.
