The Martinez Police Department on Tuesday conducted a citywide probation and parole compliance check of registered sex offenders, according to police officials.
Throughout the day, six different locations within the city were searched. The locations were selected based upon the probation/parole terms and the nature of the person’s status as a registered sex offender.
None of the parolees or probationers were arrested, however, some suspected stolen property was recovered.
The department routinely conducts compliance checks for persons living within Martinez.
These random checks serve to monitor those released from jail and prison, in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of future crimes, according to police.
