Martinez PD: Stolen Money and Fake Money

Plus, a noisy streetsweeper and other items that kept Martinez police busy between Feb. 27 and March 2

Wednesday, Feb. 27

Provocation at the Pumps: At 9:14 a.m., a motorist at the Shell station at Morello Avenue and Muir Road reported another customer tossed a cup of coffee at him and then pointed what may have been a handgun. The suspects drove off. Police took a report. No word on what may have provoked the incident.

Theft, Ransacking: At 9:47 a.m., a Martinez resident reported a gun and two computers had been taken from a bedroom in their home on Baylands Drive. The room was also ransacked. There was no forced entry, so the victims suspect this was done by someone they know.

Counterfeit Bill: At 1:09 p.m., employees at the Starbucks on Arnold Drive noticed they had a counterfeit $100 bill. They believed the bill was brought in within the past couple days.

Cash Theft: At 2:57 p.m., a resident of Beechwood Drive told police he let a couple folks into his home to use the bathroom. After they left, he noticed $200 was missing from his unattended wallet.

Thursday, Feb. 28

Marijuana, Alcohol: At 10:44 a.m., officials at Alhambra High School reported they had a student who was in possession of marijuana. The teen was cited and given a verbal warning. Less than an hour later, school officials said they had detained a student who was in possession of alcohol.

Coin Box Theft: At 8:10 p.m., employees at the Shell station on Muir Road reported someone had taken the coin box from the vacuum machine in the car wash area.

Friday, March 1

Lights Out: At 11:15 a.m., a resident of Alhambra Way reported the wires had been cut and the bulbs removed from a new lighting system they had just installed after finding opened mail from other addresses on their front yard.

Saturday, March 2

Noisy Streetsweeper: At 5:25 a.m., someone at the Walmart store on Arnold Drive called to complain a streetsweeper was violating the city's noise ordinance. Officers went to the scene and resolved the dispute.
