Man Arrested At Marina Identified

Police say that 28-year-old Robert Aparicio of Antioch is still in critical condition.

Police have identified a man who is in critical condition after showing signs of cardiac arrest while being taken into custody by Martinez police Wednesday.

Police responded to the Martinez Marina about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on a report that a man had locked himself in a city worker's vehicle and another that someone was chasing a train on the Union Pacific railroad tracks near the marina.

Police said responding officers found Roberto Aparicio, 28, of Antioch, inside the city vehicle.

Aparicio resisted arrest and an officer used a Taser to subdue him, police said.

Aparicio continued to resist arrest and ran away but was detained after a brief chase, according to police.

The suspect showed signs of cardiac arrest and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Aparicio remained in critical condition Thursday night, police said.

An investigation revealed that Aparicio been seen at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center earlier Wednesday. He left the hospital and went to the marina, where he attacked a city worker before officers arrived, police said.
