Man, 60, Arrested for Home Break-In on Alhambra in Martinez

Police said they surrounded the house and used stun gun to apprehend suspect on Friday.

A 60-year-old man was arrested for residential burglary and a parole violation in Martinez Friday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a report that a man - later identified as John Franklin Benitez - had removed a screen door from a window at a home in the 500 block of Alhambra Avenue at about 7:50 a.m., police said.

Police said officers set up a perimeter around the house and waited for Benitez to leave. Benitez left through the front door and was confronted by officers. He fled back inside and slammed the door behind him, according to police.

Officers chased him into the home.

They used a stun gun to subdue Benitez, who was then taken into custody, police said.

Benitez was booked into jail on suspicion of residential burglary and a parole violation.
