Love That Crab Feed

Patch user Diane Boyle is a huge fan of the Martinez Police Officers Association Crab Feed.

The Martinez Police Officers Association had a crab feed fundraiser on Saturday, Feb.4, at the Martinez Boys and Girls Center. If you have never been to this event, you would do yourself a huge favor by planning and going next year.

I had never been to one and did not know what to expect, but it was by far the best event to which I have ever been.

When you first go in, you mingle with everyone (our county supervisor of District 5 , Federal Glover, introduced himself to us and others ), get your table, a drink or two, and buy all of your raffle tickets. The most amazing prizes, from gift baskets and a leather vest, to a beautiful Sony DVD player and TV were on the table to win. As dinner is served, it comes to you in courses, from french bread to salad, to pasta and last but not least, the most succulent, sweet, generous portions of hot crab you'll probably ever see.

On the table is the butter and utensils needed for cracking your crab, and as I sat there  pondering how in the world to use these things to get the meat out, along comes Officer (Bryan) Dodd offering you a small nut cracker to use. Brilliant Idea I say!

While you  are enjoying dinner, an announcer is continuously calling out winning numbers and the girls from the Alhambra High School Soccer team, are working in a team to keep the food flowing and your table cleaned.

It is by far, the most organized, generous, and fun filled, food filled evening you will ever attend for the small price tag they ask. If you have never been, go the next time it comes along, and if you have been before, I'll surely see you there at their next one!
