It was quite a sight in downtown Martinez this afternoon.
Patch reader Mandy Rose was one of the folks who saw the sheared off fire hydrant at Escobar and Ferry streets.
She snapped a photo and sent it in to us.
Rose said a truck drove onto the sidewalk, slammed into hydrant and then drove off.
The water was eventually shut off. Martinez police did not have additional information on the incident on Friday evening.
