Hwy 4: Pedestrian Killed Near Antioch; Truck Overturns Sunday Afternoon Near Pittsburg

An overturned vehicle is blocking the left lanes of westbound state Highway 4 in Pittsburg this afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on westbound Highway 4, just past Railroad Avenue, the CHP said.

Drivers are advised to expect delays in the area. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

A pedestrian was struck and killed on state Highway 4 in Antioch early this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The CHP responded just after 2 a.m. to a report of an unknown traffic hazard on westbound Highway 4 near A Street and arrived to find a body in the roadway, according to Officer John Fransen.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Fransen said it appeared the pedestrian had been struck multiple times.

The CHP issued a Sig-alert and closed all westbound lanes near the scene of the collision for nearly three hours as officers conducted an on-scene investigation. Information about how the pedestrian came to be in the roadway was not available, according to the CHP.
