High Speed Pursuit Ends in Martinez

A man and woman led police on a chase from Concord through Pleasant Hill and finally to Martinez.

The sound of a helicopter shattered the peace around the Warren Street area Wednesday about 10 p.m. as a police helicopter and several patrol cars took part in a search for two suspects.

According to the blog Claycord.com, a man and a woman were driving a white Cadillac in Concord and failed to yield for police. That set off a chase that wound from I-680 to Highway 4 and finally up Alhambra Avenue, sometimes at speeds reported as more than 100 mph. After turning down several side streets, the vehicle went up Warrent Street and stopped at the dead end. The suspects then jumped out and ran off.

According to Martinez police, the female suspect was apprehended before 11 p.m., and the other suspect remained on the loose as of 11:06 p.m.
