Fiery Car Crash Kills One On Highway 4 Tuesday

A traffic collision in Martinez tonight sent a car down an embankment that caught fire and killed one of the occupants, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision on westbound state Highway 4 at the Morello Avenue offramp was reported shortly before 7 p.m.

At least two vehicles were involved in the collision on the freeway, which sent one car down an embankment where it burst into flames.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene while at least one other person was transported to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Two lanes of the highway and the Morello Avenue offramp were closed Tuesday night while the CHP investigated the scene.
