by Bay City News

A Concord man arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Martinez on Saturday night was charged today with involuntary manslaughter, a police lieutenant said.

Contra Costa County prosecutors filed the felony involuntary manslaughter charge against Jason Castillo, 25, in connection with the death of 47-year-old Martinez resident Cecilia Kingsley.

Police responded around 7:25 p.m. Saturday to a report of a fight between a man and a woman on the steps of the Martinez Chamber of Commerce office at 603 Marina Vista.

Lt. Jon Sylvia said police are withholding specific details of the assault as the investigation unfolds.

Witnesses said they saw the man strike the woman and walk away. Officers quickly located the man, identified as Castillo, walking on Ferry Street in downtown Martinez and arrested him.

Meanwhile, Kingsley was taken to Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, where she was pronounced dead.

Castillo is being held in county jail in Martinez on $1 million bail and is set to appear in court for arraignment Thursday.
