A woman who died in a crash in Concord on Sunday has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 25-year-old Martinez resident Crystal Ferris.

Ferris, a Martinez resident, was driving a silver Honda Civic on a northbound Highway 242 flyover connector to state Highway 4 around 4 p.m. Sunday when her car went off the roadway, through a railing, and onto southbound Highway 242 below, California Highway Patrol Officer John Fransen said.

She was ejected from the car, which landed on top of her, he said.

Fransen said two good Samaritans stopped at the scene and tried to rescue Ferris.

One man was able to lift the car off of her, while a nurse who had also pulled over helped try to revive her along with the first arriving CHP officer.

Emergency responders pronounced Ferris dead at the scene a short time later, Fransen said.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
