Local Man Dies In Car Crash On Highway 88

John Georgette worked at The Station and was a board member of the Martinez Gun Club.

A Martinez man died Sunday after he lost control of his truck on Highway 88 and was thrown to the ground, suffering a massive head injury.

According to reports from the Highway Patrol, Ledger Dispatch and the Martinez News Gazette, John Georgette was driving his pickup truck on Highway 88 Sunday with two friends when his dog distracted him and he lost control. The car then apparently drove into an embankment, and Georgette was thrown from the truck.

The other two passengers suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals. They are Raymond Peters of Rio Vista and Ronald Kinney of Fairfield.

Georgette worked at The Station on Ferry Street, and won several awards in this year’s King of the County BBQ. He was also a member of the Martinez Gun Club.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1900 Waterbird Way this Saturday beginning at noon.
