Health Challenge!

It's time to stop talking about being healthy and start doing it!

Alright, it’s time to “put our money where our mouths are” and stop talking about healthy living and really start doing it. I’m officially issuing a health challenge! I am going to be adding something simple and new to my life each week and then report how things are going each Friday. I encourage anyone out there to join me! Here’s what I propose this week:

  • Spend at least 30 minutes walking, running or biking each night this week.

After dinner, before dinner, in the morning or middle of the day, it doesn’t matter as long as it’s getting done. The effects of exercising for at least 30 minutes a day are pretty well known: weight loss, muscle strengthening, lower heart rate, better mood, stronger bones, improved circulation, etc… In my opinion, exercise is one of the most important things you can add into your life. And it’s easy! Start out with this challenge and do it every night, pretty soon, you won’t miss that thirty minutes away from the TV or the computer and you will begin to seriously enjoy it!

Martinez is such a great town for walking. The town itself is so spread out and there are always neighborhoods to explore. If you want to get out somewhere with a great view, check out Carquinez Scenic Drive in old town Martinez. It’s definitely one of my favorite places to walk! The photo was taken on one of our walks with the family. That's me pushing my one year old daughter in the stroller!

Please send me an email if you have questions, need some encouragement or just to let me know how things are going! I will check back in on Wednesday to let you all know how things are going with me.
