Olympians from Clayton and Concord received county recognition yesterday.

The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors honored a number of local Olympians at its meeting in Martinez on Tuesday.

Three-time gold medalist swimmer Dana Vollmer, of Richmond, was recognized, along with fellow swimmer Natalie Coughlin of Lafayette.

The board also honored sisters Jessica and Maggie Steffens, of Danville, Melissa Seidemann, of Walnut Creek, and Heather Petri, of Orinda -- all members of the gold medal-winning women's water polo team.

Others recognized Tuesay were bronze medal-winning synchronized springboard diver Kristian Ipsen, of Clayton; bronze medalist in the women's quadruple sculls Kara Kohler, of Clayton; synchronized swimmer Mariya Koroleva of Concord; men's rower Anthony Fahden, of Lafayette; and men's water polo team member Peter Varellas.
