Suffrage Film Fest III - The Iron-Jawed Angels.

The third and final film in the Martinez and Contra Costa County Historical Societies Suffrage Film Fest stars Hilary Swank in the HBO film "Iron-Jawed Angels" which depicts the last 7 years of the national fight for womens' right to vote.  Swank protrays Alice Paul and her cohorts who broke from the staid National Womans Suffrage Association and took their campaign to the streets of Washington DC.  Jailed and forced-fed the valiant women ultimately embarassed President Woodrow Wilson and both the House and Senate into passing the Susan B. Anthony amendment to the constitution.  They then led the ratification campaign which resulted in the August 1920 victory by one vote in the Tennessee Senate - the last possible state to make a 3/4 ratification possible.
