A Suffrage Film Fest II: California Women Win!

The second in a  three-evening film series on the centennial of woman's suffrage in California will be presented Monday, March 26.  "How California Women Won the Vote" depicts the amazing eight month campaign in 1911 resulting in California becoming the sixth state to grant women full suffrage -- 9 years before the 19th amendment was passed.  This 25 minute film combining historic photos with re-enactments show the combination of political savvy, modern campaign techniques and the hard work of both women and men in achieving victory by barely 2 percent of the all-male vote.  A brief presentation on the campaign in central Contra Costa County will follow.  The Martinez and Contra Costa County Historical Societies are presenting the three part series.

Assembly member Susan Bonilla (D-Concord) has been invited to present an Assembly resolution thanking the Contra Costa County Historical Society for its work in marking this significant anniversary.

Light refreshments will follow the film and presentation.
