Happenings in Martinez: Downtown Clean Up, Joey Piscitelli, Opera Bazaar

There is plenty going on this weekend through the next couple of weeks, from book signings to an eReader Workshop, MTZO Bazaar and more...

Today the Thursday Farmer's Market begins and will run through October 25 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Court Street from Escobar to Main Street; and don't forget the year round market every Sunday on Main Street.

Saturday, April 28 is giving you a lot of activities to choose from in Martinez and locally.

The day starts off bright and early with an army of volunteers participating in the annual Downtown Clean Up, a special thank you to Barbara Kapsalis for organizing this great event.

Community Violence Solutions is hosting the "Vagina Monologues" at Saint Mary's College from 3 to 8 p.m.

Need help with your iPhone, iPad or other Android eReader? The Martinez Library is holding an eReader Workshop from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

The Martinez Opera is hosting a two day "Bazaar" on the 28th and 29th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hickory Drive in Concord. They are advertising antiques, artifacts, art, books, balls, baskets, CD's, chairs, clothes, DVD's, dolls, dresses...okay, the list goes through the alphabet through yoga stuff and much, much, more!

Mark your calendars for upcoming events: May 2 New Leaf and the John Muir Association are hosting "John Muir: Journey to Martinez - Mural Fundraiser" from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Roxx on Main. Tickets are $35.00 and include Live Music, Food, Drinks, and a Silent Auction to benefit the Franklin Canyon Mural. On May 5 Eloise Cotton is hosting a Spring Studio Sale from noon to 6:00 pm. Main Street Martinez is holding the very popular "Wine Stroll" on May 5, tickets are available from the Main Street Office or Leah's Closet. On May 6 is the 2nd Annual Martinez Music Boosters Spring Fling Dinner and Auction to be held at Lemongrass Bistro beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $40.00 and are available from AHS music students. And, The Lowell Trio's Spring Fling Concert will be held at Armando's at 4:00 pm.
