Out and About in Martinez

New Exhibit, Ghost Walk, Gypsy Jazz, Full Moon Walk on Mount Wanda, HS Program, Camp Fire Program and the "Blues"...

NEW at the John Muir National Historic Site: John Muir’s Literary Legacy. The exhibit places John Muir in a larger world of nature writers, including Rachel Carson, Aldo Leopold, Edward Abbey and Dr. Seuss. This exhibit will run through January 2013. All five writers used their pens to push the United States forward toward more preservation and protection of our natural resources. The exhibit shows that Muir helped fuel a fire that would burn through the environmental movement of the 1960’s and ‘70s, and continues today. Ultimately, the exhibit challenges visitors to find their role in the preservation of nature.
